Lunar Community Night on Saturday 31st January 2026 at Fyffe House
NASA’s Artemis mission is set to return humans to the Moon for the first time since Apollo, marking the start of a new era of lunar exploration focused on the Moon’s south pole and long-term human presence beyond Earth.
To mark this moment, Moana Skies is hosting a one-off lunar community night deliberately timed with the full Moon so the focus is on lunar viewing and storytelling rather than traditional stargazing.
Saturday 31 January
9:30–10:30pm
Fyffe House, 62 Avoca Street
The evening will include:
Telescopes on the Moon
A guided look at lunar features
A simple, engaging overview of the Artemis mission and what’s coming next
This event is free and open to all, with koha encouraged to support the Kaikōura Dark Sky Trust and Fyffe House.
We’ll also be hosting a separate indoor event around the Artemis launch itself, including a live stream, short documentaries, and a talk when the mission launches in the coming weeks.
No bookings required — just come along and look up.
