Hands in the Dirt. Eyes on the Future.
On Saturday, 28 February you’ll find us ring side at the A&P Show. This year’s Kaikōura A&P Show theme “Hands in the Dirt and Eyes on the Future” couldn’t feel more perfect for us at the Kaikōura Dark Sky Trust because protecting our night sky isn’t just about stars. It’s about soil, farming, wildlife and pollinators… and the future of our community.
What You’ll Find at Our Stall This Year
A fun, interactive space for all ages:

Plant a Pollinator Garden
Kids (and grownups!) can take part in our pollinator planting activity inspired by our Plant a Pollinator Garden poster. Plant a pollinator garden poster — because healthy soils by day need healthy skies by night.

Protectors of the Night Stickers
Our much-loved Night Guardian stickers will be available — a small badge of honour for anyone helping protect Kaikōura’s dark skies.
Outdoor Lighting Demonstration Unit
See the difference good lighting design makes. We’ll show how smart, shielded, warm lighting protects wildlife while still doing the job it’s meant to do.
VR Headsets
Step into the night sky and experience the night dark sky from a whole new perspective.
Future farming needs dark skies.
Healthy soils by day. Healthy skies by night.

Dark skies protect:
- Nocturnal pollinators
- Our seabirds
- Our marine environment
- And the productive landscapes we all depend on.
See you Saturday!
