Free Community Event – Everyone Welcome
Last year, members of the Kaikōura Dark Sky Trust had the pleasure of meeting online with the inspiring Island Stars Conservation team from Green Island, Taiwan. We shared Kaikōura’s dark sky journey and learned about the incredible work being undertaken to protect the night skies of their island community.
Now we’re delighted to welcome four members of the team to Kaikōura as part of their New Zealand visit. During their trip, they are visiting several of New Zealand’s internationally recognised dark sky places to learn from our communities, exchange ideas, and strengthen connections between people working to protect the natural night.

Presentation Topics
Shu-An
From Belonging to Responsibility: A Wayfinding Journey Through Stars, Islands, and Relationships.
Stanly
Sanasai: Dark Sky and Marine Conservation in Taiwan.
Fang-Yu
Art and Light Pollution.
Whether you’re interested in astronomy, conservation, art, community action, or simply curious to hear about another island’s journey to protect its night skies, we’d love to see you there.
This is a wonderful opportunity to welcome our international visitors to Kaikōura and continue building friendships across the global dark sky community.
