Kaikōura Astronomers welcome you and your whanau to this free community stargazing evening hosted at the Hapuku School grounds from 5.30pm on Friday 7 June. Come and explore the night sky in many ways:

  • Look through a traditional telescope and view planets such as Jupiter and Saturn.
  • Control the eVscope using a touchpad or your phone – take photos of specific night sky objects and download.
  • If there are enough volunteers available on the night you will also be able to try one of the two new VR headset which uses the Stellarium night sky app to dive you into a collection of many stars, nebulas, galaxies, star clusters and other deep sky objects.
  • Bring your camera and give astrophotograhy a go.
  • Bring a blanket, lie back and enjoy the awe and wonder!

Time: Come anytime from 5.30pm until late.

Where: Hapuku School, 596 Kincaid Road, Hapuku. Just park out the front and come in through the front gate. We will be there around the back! A safe environment with toilets.
