Join the Kaikōura Dark Sky Trust on Saturday 11 July from 8.30 to 9.30pm at Fyffe House for a special evening of stargazing as we celebrate Matariki and explore the stars above Kaikōura. Bring the whānau along to Fyffe House Lawn and experience the magic of Kaikōura’s night sky. Whether you’re a seasoned stargazer or simply curious about what lies above, this relaxed and family-friendly event is a great opportunity to connect with the stars, learn something new, and celebrate the season of Matariki.
What to Expect
Our volunteers and astronomy enthusiasts will be on hand to help you explore the night sky and discover some of the celestial wonders visible above Kaikōura.
Activities include:
- Telescope viewing
- Learn how to identify constellations and navigate the night sky
- Astrophotography tips and advice
- A warming fire and hot chocolate
- Friendly conversation and shared skywatching
