To celebrate the magic of Matariki, we invited local artists of all ages to get creative through this Colouring in Competition and we’ve absolutely loved seeing the community’s creativity shine through.
New World Kaikoura is proudly displaying over 100 vibrant entries in their front windows until Monday 23rd June —adding even more colour to the stunning mural by Rosivita.
On Tuesday afternoon, three local judges had the tough job of selecting five standout winners, each receiving a Matariki themed prize. Artist Genevieve Lintott was thrilled to see her designs brought to life by such talented locals. Lisa Bond, Chair of the Kaikōura Dark Sky Trust, said the standard was so high it was nearly impossible to choose—so several special commendations were also awarded.
Competition Results:
Ages 0–4 – Makayla (age 3)
Ages 5–9 – Hazel (age 5)
Ages 10–14 – Daniella (age 10)
Ages 15–18 – Jade (age 15)
Adult – Laura Finney
